In 1970, Kobayashi Engineering Works, Ltd. had a technical cooperation with Kampf in West Germany to start manufacturing slitters and winders. (The cooperation was dissolved in 1989.) At the beginning, the technology was followed on the philosophy brought up in Europe. And then later in 80s, the advanced technology was developed and established in order to fulfill the demand of Japanese market. Finally, Kobayashi's slitter and winder, especially the primary slitters and take-up winders obtained the patronage of the customers, resulted in the delivery of over 120 slitters (80 in Japan and 40 overseas) and 60 winders (30 in Japan and 30 overseas). Into the 21st century, we plan to go into the fields of small-sized, middle-sized and all-purpose slitters.
